Who are we?
From a base in DK, US, UK, DE, Singapore and Shanghai the LEGO Group’s Global Insights (GI) department works with market and competitor surveillance as well as consumer-, shopper-, concept/product- and communication insights.

Play a key role in our Global Insights department
With a very high the LEGO Group’s focus on and very ambitious growth targets for Asia, the Global Insights department is facing a significant increase in need for Consumer, Shopper as well as Market & Industry insights to set strategic direction for the LEGO Group’s business in Asia/Pacific and China. There is furthermore, a very strong need to drive strategic and synthesized insights into the global LEGO Group’s business with primary focus on the Senior Executive Level.

To meet the need of the business, the LEGO Group is investing in building a full GI team on the ground with a leader located in Shanghai and a regional team based in Shanghai and Singapore. This new function will cover all the fields of expertise to build the insights needed and to act as strategic and trusted advisors and sparring partners to the business.

Heading up the new function, the Director for Market & Shoppers in Asia/Pacific & China will have the direct responsibility for setting strategic direction for this new area, further build, manage and lead the team of experts as well as further build structure and set-up to assure strong impact of insights across the business. The director will report directly into the Global head of the Markets & Shoppers Team in Global Insights.

In this role, there will be heavy focus on building, managing and providing strong leadership to a team of highly skilled specialist across dynamic growth regions in the LEGO Group. There will be equally strong focus on the ability to act as strategic sparring partner to the senior executive level in the LEGO Group, to assure impact and to set clear strategic direction supporting a growing and dynamic business.

Core Responsibilities Include

Build, manage and lead a team of highly skilled and motivated experts with strong impact through value-added insights and recommendations for the LEGO Group’s business in Asia/Pacific and China
Set a strong strategic direction and insights agenda aligned with the overall the LEGO Group’s strategy, the regional strategy as well as the GI strategy
Own and drive a strong strategic partnership with the Senior Executive stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor focused on influencing the business on a strategic level (ASIA/PACIFIC, CHINA and Shanghai Innovation hub as well as selected global stakeholders)
Actively build a structure and a mindset in ASIA/PACIFIC and CHINA driving insights to action & advancing integration of insights as a key backbone for decision making
Serve as key innovator and global driver of Asia/Pacific and China insights through active participation in MIN ASIA/PACIFIC & CHINA as well as in peer leadership in GI
Expand and build external relationships with a strong, relevant and diversified vendor base across ASIA/PACIFIC. Build own sources where none exists through own strong experience and network as well as the team capabilities
Strong coaching and development of team through own professional experience.

The Director of Asia/Pacific and China M&S will work closely together with the head of M&S, GI.

Value adding strategic partner to senior executives
Participate value-adding in MIN Asia/Pacific and China and other relevant leadership level meeting and project activities
Bring insights to the table across Asia/Pacific and China –

Create structure and set-up for strategic insights consultancy assuring link-in to all key decision processes across stakeholders

Create new means of communication for insights base in the LEGO Group (visually strong and easily sharable)
Provide input for emerging market insights strategy to head of GI, M&S
Further build and drive relationships with internal key stakeholders through high quality insight deliveries, personal integrity and high level of professionalism

A regional leader with a global mindset
Create a strong platform for knowledge sharing of Asia/Pacific & China insights back to selected global stakeholders in the LEGO Group’s headquarters in Billund, Denmark
Be a strong value-adding regional partner to global head of GI M&S supporting overall global agenda while also acting regionally and locally
Assure a global mindset in own team without losing the regional and local focal point

What we are looking for

10/15+ years of relevant experience within one or more similar positions, as a minimum half of this on the client side. Preferably, experience in driving different insights disciplines (e.g. Market and Industry, Consumer, Shopper, Tracking, Digital)
Strong and proven innovator within insights to action in international companies
10+ years of successful people leadership experience including remote leadership experience. Experience in building and driving an insights team to success in one or more international companies on Director/Director+ level
5+ years of own experience and proven success in driving strategic insights to action with senior executives in international companies

Candidates with MBA+ will be preferred

Highly skilled communicator visually and orally
Excellent Microsoft Office Skills.
Approximately 60+ travel days a year. 1/3 domestic in China, 2/3 internationally in Asia/Pacific + rest of world.
Experienced in living in China (and potentially other expat experience), if not Chinese citizen

Language Skills
Advanced English – Level 13-16 (C1, C2)
Preferred if also Advanced in Mandarin or/and other Asian languages but not a requirement
