Job Title:           Digital Commercial Manager, Asia

Reports to:       Director of E-Commerce, APAC

Digital represents a clear point of differentiation for Burberry, with a keen focus on driving penetration of e-commerce, particularly in Asia, with further investment in localization of sites in the region and innovative work with third parties and across new channels to drive growth.


To support this ambition, Burberry are looking for a Digital Commercial Manager, based in [ ], to monitor and enhance performance, and identify, assess, develop and report on potential initiatives to grow the digital commerce business in the Asia regions. The post holder will gain exposure across our global business and will have access to many opportunities to develop knowledge of the digital and luxury sectors in these dynamic markets.


The Digital Commercial Manager will be an essential element of the Digital team:

  • Assisting in the promotion of the digital strategy and the progress of delivery across all Asia regions;
  • Supporting decision making on digital delivery prioritisation and commercial activity; and
  • Being a central point of reference for digital intelligence across the regions



  • Enhance reporting for the digital business in the Asia regions:
    • Develop and run reporting activity that enables better visibility for central digital and regional stakeholders
    • Activity to include regular presentations to regional stakeholders and head office in London
    • Leverage enhanced visibility to highlight commercial opportunities across platforms


  • Coordinate the delivery of the digital strategy by the regional operational / marketing / merchandising / customer / analytics teams:
    • Ensure full visibility of central activity that impacts the regional teams
    • Run monthly review sessions with regional teams in Asia to ensure coordination across functions


  • Work with relevant teams to support decision making on commercial opportunities across platforms:
    • Support the modelling of expected benefit cases for initiatives
    • Coordinate with the planning and budgeting functions


  • Coordinate intelligence related to regional digital opportunities:
    • Understand of dynamics of markets across the region
    • Undertake research across markets to understand trends of peers and partners
    • Identify new opportunities, whether relating to the development of .com features or new third party relationships



Essential Skills/Experience and behaviours

  • [5] years of experience working in high performing business – retail / ecommerce / digital background preferred but not essential
  • Fascinated by digital and the opportunities in the market
  • Strong work ethic
  • Good interpersonal skills, with ability to quickly understand the needs across functional and business areas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills with an ability to handle and prioritise multiple requests
  • Highly numerate and analytical, with excellent attention to detail, and ability to act independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite
  • Educated to BSc (Hons) level (MSc preferable) at least
  • Fluent English / Mandarin speaker


Desirable Skills/Experience/behaviours

  • Experience of working in a comparable, market-leading internet/e-commerce business in China
  • Experience or awareness of/demonstrable enthusiasm for best practice in localizing global ecomm platforms for Asia market
  • Experience in the use of Tableau
  • Experience of working with teams across regions and timezones (especially Europe)
